Do I get a notification when someone scans my pet's tag?

Not for the scan itself. We don't send anything when someone simply opens your pet's page. You hear from us when a finder reaches out.

When a finder taps Share location

Their browser asks them to allow location. If they do, we email you a map of where they are, with a link to open it in Google Maps. The subject starts with "Someone found" and your pet's name. If someone shares a location again within a minute, we don't send a second email straight away.

The "Lost? Call my family" box on Buddy's page: Call now, the city the owner lives in, and the Share location button, which is highlighted.
When a finder taps Share location and allows it, you get their location by email.

When a finder sends a message

Whatever they write in the Message the family box reaches you by email, with the time they sent it.

The Message the family box on Buddy's page, "We'll email your message to the family", with a text field and a Send button, highlighted.
Whatever a finder writes in Message the family reaches you by email.

Who gets these emails

  • You, at your account email
  • Every contact linked to the pet who has an email address
  • People you share the pet with, if they've turned on Additional membership safety emails

Calls and WhatsApp

If a finder taps Call now or WhatsApp, they reach you directly, so nothing comes through us.

There are no app notifications or text messages, so keep an eye on your inbox, and your spam folder, if your pet goes missing. See which emails you'll get.
