Who We Are
Tails.id is the data controller responsible for the processing of your personal data.
Registered address: 3rd Floor 86-90 Paul Street, London, England, EC2A 4NE

2.
Personal Information We Collect
We collect personal information that you provide directly to us when you purchase a product, create or manage a digital pet profile, contact us, or interact with our website.
2.1
This may include your name, email address, phone number, and an address. We also collect pet-related information such as the pet's name and any allergy or health-related information that you voluntarily choose to include in the pet profile.
2.2
When a tag is scanned, we collect limited technical information such as the date and time of the scan. If the person who scanned it chooses to share their location or send a message from your pet's page, we collect that location or message and email it to you, to the contacts on your pet's profile and to the people you share your pet with who turned on safety emails, with a copy to our team.
2.3
We also collect limited technical and usage data when you visit our website, such as device type, browser information, pages viewed, and interactions with the site.
3.
How We Use Your Personal Information
We use your personal information to provide and operate the digital pet profile and tag scanning functionality, to process purchases and deliver essential service communications, to email you when a finder shares their location or sends a message from your pet's page, to maintain the security and integrity of our services, to improve our website and services, and to respond to enquiries or support requests.
We do not use your personal information for marketing purposes unless you have explicitly opted in.
4.
Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal data on the following legal bases:
4.1
Contractual necessity, where processing is required to provide the product and services you have purchased
4.2
Legitimate interests, where processing is necessary to operate, secure, and improve our services
4.3
Consent, where you choose to provide optional information such as pet allergy details or where you consent to analytics or marketing cookies
4.4
You may withdraw your consent at any time.
5.
Marketing Communications
5.1
We send only service emails: emails about your account and orders, and the messages and locations that finders send from your pet's page. We do not send marketing or promotional emails.
5.2
We do not send marketing SMS messages and do not use phone numbers for marketing purposes.
6.
Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate our website and, with your consent, to analyse usage and measure the effectiveness of our marketing.
6.1
Essential cookies are required for the website to function and cannot be disabled.
6.2
With your consent, we use analytics cookies to understand how visitors interact with our website and to improve performance and user experience. These include Google Analytics 4 (GA4), which collects information such as pages visited, interactions, device type, and approximate location. IP addresses are anonymised where possible.
6.3
We also partner with Microsoft Clarity to capture how you use and interact with our website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay to improve and market our products and services. Website usage data is captured using first and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies to determine the popularity of products and services and online activity. Additionally, we use this information for site optimisation and advertising. For more information about how Microsoft collects and uses your data, visit the Microsoft Privacy Statement (https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement).
6.4
With your consent, we also use marketing and advertising technologies to measure advertising performance and reach relevant audiences. These include the Meta Pixel, which collects information about your visits and actions on our website, such as pages viewed, buttons clicked, and purchase activity, along with technical data such as device type and browser information. This data is shared with Meta Platforms, Inc. and is used by both us and Meta to measure advertising effectiveness, deliver relevant advertisements, and build audiences for ad campaigns on Facebook and Instagram. Meta uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to collect this data, and may collect information about visitors to our site even if they do not have a Facebook account. For more information about how Meta collects and uses your data, visit the Meta Privacy Policy (https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy/).
6.5
We use Google reCAPTCHA v3 on our sign-up page to protect TailsID accounts from automated, fraudulent and abusive sign-ups. It starts only on the sign-up page, when you select the email field or ask for a sign-up code, and no other page starts it; once started, it stays loaded in that browser tab until you reload or close the page. reCAPTCHA collects information about your device and how you interact with the page, such as your IP address and browser and device details. When you ask for a sign-up code, Google sets a cookie (_GRECAPTCHA) on its own domain, which lasts up to six months, and writes a _grecaptcha entry into this website's local storage, which stays until you clear your browser's site data. When you ask for a sign-up code, our server sends the reCAPTCHA result to Google, which returns a score of how likely it is that the request is automated. We use that score only to decide whether to send the code, and we keep no reCAPTCHA data with your account. The _GRECAPTCHA cookie and the _grecaptcha storage entry are strictly necessary to protect the sign-up you have asked for, so they do not need your consent and are not controlled through our cookie banner; we process the related personal data on our legitimate interest in keeping our services secure. Google acts as our processor for reCAPTCHA, under the Google Cloud Terms of Service and the Cloud Data Processing Addendum.
6.6
Analytics and marketing cookies are not activated unless you provide consent through our cookie banner.
7.
Managing Your Advertising Preferences
7.1
You can control or limit interest-based advertising through third-party tools, including Google Ad Settings, Meta advertising preferences, and industry self-regulatory platforms such as the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) and the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA).
7.2
Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn.
8.
Data Sharing
8.1
We may share your personal data with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate our services, such as website hosting, email delivery, analytics, and security providers. These providers process data only on our instructions and only for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
8.2
We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose information if required to do so by law or to protect our legal rights.
9.
Social Media Publishing
We publish content to our own Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts and Threads profiles through Meta's official APIs, using an internal tool that only our staff use. When we connect one of our accounts, Meta gives us its name, identifier and profile picture, access tokens that let the tool publish on it, statistics about our posts, and comments on our posts. We use this only to publish our content, see how it performs and reply to comments. We do not use it for advertising and we do not sell it.
To ask us to delete this data, see our Data Deletion page (https://tails.id/data-deletion).
10.
Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide our services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You may request deletion of your personal data at any time.
11.
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access your personal data, correct inaccurate or incomplete data, request deletion of your data, restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise your rights, please contact us at [email protected].
12.
Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. While we take security seriously, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
13.
Children's Information
Our services are not intended for children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without parental consent.
14.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The latest version will always be available on our website with an updated date.
